Happy Father's Day, Love Alex

With Father’s Day being this Sunday I thought I’d give Ben a well-deserved break and write the blog this week. You’re welcome, Ben!

I love Father’s Day, maybe even more than Mother’s Day. That might have something to do with not wanting all the attention on me or it might be that I have so many amazing fathers to celebrate in my life. Either way, it’s a great reason to celebrate.

First moments of being a dad.

Getting the hang of this 'dad thing'.

Oh, I got this.

Shout out to my favorite father…Ben. He is an intelligent, strong, funny and engaged dad to our children and I appreciate everything that he does for our family. He takes care of the finances, both personal and business, cuts the grass and even does all the grocery shopping. All things I very much dislike doing!

Another father I celebrate on Father’s Day is Ben’s father, David. He has raised four great children and has four grandchildren that love getting to spend time with their Papaw. I’m so thankful that he is involved in Ben’s life and our kids’ lives.

Dr. Francis coming to my class to perform science experiments.

Pretty self-explanatory, and a memory I will always cherish.

Father’s Day wasn’t always a day that I would look forward to because of the pain and sadness it would bring. In August 2011, my father passed away after battling a disease for many, many years. He shaped me to be the woman I am today and I am like him in so many ways, even the ways that use to drive me crazy. I miss him every Father’s Day but it’s no longer remembering his death, just his life.

The last father that I celebrate, above all others, is our father in heaven. He is the Father from whom all fatherhood derives its name. (Ephesians 3:15)

Thank you to all the fathers out there!
